Commercial Solar and LED Stunning Success
A national retailer has had stunning success with the roll out of just 2 of the 7 demand management and energy efficiency measures identified and quantified by Water & Energy Savers staff.

Annual savings of $5,747,987 (34%) will be achieved by just rolling out 2 measures Solar PV Systems to replace peak (day time) power usage and energy efficient lighting.

Payback periods for Commercial Solar PV Systems range from 2.65 years to 3.9 years depend on local tariffs and which state the stores are located.

Energy efficiency lighting systems payback periods vary from 2.19 - 3.17 years per store.

From energy efficiency and demand management priority viewpoints the 7 tactical and strategic priorities identified are:

Efficient lighting systems and upgrades 92% of sites
Solar PV systems 68% of sites
Sub metering 43% sites,
Tariff re-negotiations 3 states
VSD drives - 32% sites
Air conditioning system upgrades 36% sites,

Greening Our Hospitals Program
Water & Energy Savers has worked with over thirty hospitals to save the equivalent of 100 Olympic size swimming pools per year through the Department of Human Services $3.9 million Greening Our Hospitals Program.

Pointing Solar East and North Maximises Savings
Pointing the 32.5 kW Solar PV Systems both east and west has maximised savings and solar generation use for Woodlands Winery at 3948 Caves Road, Wilyabrup WA.

The winery starts work at 6.00 am in summer and 7.00 in winter. The east facing solar panels start generating electricity at sunrise replacing grid power electricity.

Water & Energy Savers , Managing Director, said " This is a great example of of an engineered solar solution we designed the Commercial Solar PV System to meet Woodlands Winery requirements and maximising the savings available."

100% funding is available for all viable companies, schools and businesses that install Solar PV Systems, energy efficient lighting or any recommended demand management measure.

Preliminary assessment (if required):

  • Brief on site assessment to estimate possible savings and scope the full project
  • Brief report of findings
  • Quotation for full water efficiency project
  • Assess potential for rainwater harvesting if requested
  • Quotation for an assessment of alternative water supplies if requested
  • Cost of a Preliminary assessments $1,000

Water efficiency audits:

  • Assess all water using appliances and equipment for efficiency and potential improvement
  • Assess water systems
  • Assess on site water re-use opportunities
  • Model and analyse results
  • Provide a water balance within 10% of metered consumption
  • Create a comprehensive report that includes:
    • Estimation of water, hot water energy and waste water savings
  • Specify and cost water saving measures in a format plumbers or hospital engineers can action

Assessment of alternative water supplies:

  • Assess rain water harvesting potential using Meteorological data for your location
  • Assess potential uses of the rainwater
  • Estimate the savings, costs and paybacks to implement

Project Management:

  • To make water efficiency easy and a reality Water and Energy Savers supply and install all works specified in our reports. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Upgrade of water closets and urinals
    • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Water and Energy Savers are currently Project Managers for 2,500 Commonwealth and State Government funded water efficiency projects across Australia.
